The thing I fear will happen.

My mother brought this up to me this morning, and the resemblance is uncanny. But what I fear is that history will repeat itself. Yes I do foresee an assassination attempt on our next president, and I think this is a genuine concern. Hear is how I see it happening, and you can call my crazy for thinking like this, but I think it's a legitimate fear.

Our new president is a black man, and because of this several groups will be upset, the KKK, the Neo Nazi, but these groups are not the one's I am worried about. I'm afraid the assassin will be some black radical who is thinking right now "It's about time, now WE have the power." Then he will go in for a job, or something will happen to him and he will think, "Wait, Obama is president, that means the Black Man is in charge, but nothing has changed for me. Obama sold out!" I can see this coming, just as it was with Lincoln. Lincoln was from a state that relied on slavery and yet he turned his back on these people when he freed the slaves. Lincoln was a sell out in the minds of those who had him killed. I can see this happening to Obama, and within 2 years there will be an attempt on his life.

Now, I know most of you think this may sound like sour grapes, but to be honest I didn't want McCain in office either. But this is not about that anymore, Obama is going to be president, and I'm worried a bullet will make Joe Biden our next president, and that's even scarier to me.

Sadly I agree, but I thought that way about both presidential candidates. I didn't foresee McCain finishing his term without life support of some kind due to his age/health record. And honestly if Obama died it wouldn't be that bad, a tragic loss yes, but not that bad because instead of Palin rising to power we have Biden and he would also become a martyr for various political reasons. Hopefully though SS is aware of this threat and will keep on their toes around the president.

I've heard a lot of interesting theories of how Obama will be assassinated, but yours is by far the most original.

I fear that it is a possibility...

No offense intended. I'm just amused at the anticipations that many people have presented to me, often times without a base, or based purely on coincidental speculative observation. :)

And if something like that were likely to happen, no doubt he'd be elevated to saintly status, joining other luminaries like Rev. King, MalcX and the handful of others who were killed by somebody for his beliefs and ideals or simply for just being such a high-profile and publicly visible african-american...

I can see it happening, too - and it's sad, especially considering that a lot of Obama's opponents are traditionalists of one kind or another.

My grandparents - traditionalists in the true sense of the word - taught me a value that became part of my own moral code: Love him or hate him, the President is the President - and the office deserves respect.

The idea of a President being assassinated shakes my morals to the very core.

As much as I fear this too, think about how many people wanted GW out of office and reeeally didn't like him. You think any of the people that lost millions on the stock market have any bad feelings against GW? I'm just saying, if some multi-millionaire/ thier corperation, that can afford some high end assassin, can't find a way to kill the president, then some crazy guy is not gonna have a very good chance. The SS and FBI are serious business.

Yes, but unlike some multi-millionaire/corporation, the person who will try to kill Obama will have nothing left to live for in their warped little minds. Not to mention, ths stock market crash was not GW's fault, it was the ass hat who thought it was a good idea to take millions in debt and turn it into stocks and sell them.
